The Coastal South
The Coastal South is the region that is comprised of the land by the Atlantic and Gulf coasts from parts of Virginia to the Mexican Border. This area is concentrated more on commerce and trade and the region’s population is heterogeneous. The United States armed forces are a great contributor to this area’s economy. Although the Coastal South is extremely vulnerable to many natural disasters, it is the fastest growing places in US. The landscape of the Coastal South is flat and low and the coastlines have several sandy beaches.
The weather of the Coastal South is humid, subtropical with summers that are long, hot and rainy. The winters tend to be mild and wet. During the summer, the weather does not really change much on a daily basis and it is like that for numerous months. It is also the region that is most vulnerable to thunderstorms.
This area’s economy is focused on the tertiary and quaternary sectors than the Inland South, but the primary and secondary sectors are also important. The Coastal South provides the United States with the most of the production of sugar cane, and a major cash crop in this area is rice. Another major contributor to the Coastal South’s economy is Tourism and the largest tourist attraction in this area is Walt Disney World.
