The Inland South
The Inland South is an area with a very long history, diversity and contrast. The physical geography is the reason for the local differences of culture and economy. This region includes: the Carolinas, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, and parts of Missouri, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The Inland South also include parts of Atlantic Coastal Plain, the Piedmont, the Appalachians, and American Central Lowland. In this area, summers are generally hot and humid, and winters are usually mild, but cold snaps are not uncommon along with snowfall. The Summer Flooding is also a common issue because of frequent thunderstorms and rainfall. The south used to be known as a distinctive region; however, it is not anymore but it is known now as a cultural center. The five biggest Metropolitan cities in the Inland South are Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte, Virginia Beach, and Nashville. The recent 50 years, the Inland South has started to see a growth in the urban areas and integration of mainstream global and national economies. This steady growth and integration can be seen as the result from better communication and transportation. Finally, it is believed that there will be an increase in the individuals living in the Inland South and income growth will continue.
